This major line currently handles approximately 3.5 million gallons of wastewater per day and connects to the Southwest Pump Station via a 36-inch reinforced concrete pipe installed in the 1980s. Reduced diameter from past structural lining and repairs has limited the pipe\u2019s capacity, restricting system performance and future growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Initial Construction Area<\/strong><br>Work will initially begin in the&nbsp;Forrest Park and Lotus Avenue area, with traffic controls in place. Digital message boards and standard traffic signage will be used to alert motorists and ensure public safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Phase One Scope<\/strong><br>Construction includes:<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" data-dominant-color=\"ebedda\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #ebedda;\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"531\" height=\"843\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/wtproject25.webp?resize=531%2C843&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-55705 not-transparent\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/wtproject25.webp?w=531&amp;ssl=1 531w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/wtproject25.webp?resize=189%2C300&amp;ssl=1 189w\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A new 42-inch gravity trunk sewer line<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A new wastewater pump station<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>24-inch and 30-inch force mains<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collector lines and supporting infrastructure<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This phase spans approximately\u00a012,800 linear feet\u00a0of sewer main, with\u00a043 manholes\u00a0and\u00a047 lateral connection designed to meet current and future wastewater demands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Why This Upgrade is Necessary<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Increased Capacity:<\/strong>\u00a0Supports community growth and eliminates system bottlenecks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Public Safety:<\/strong>\u00a0Realigns sewer lines away from residential areas in the Oakhill, Colonial, and Citrus Center Colony Mobile Home Parks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Harden Boulevard Improvements:<\/strong>\u00a01,400 linear feet of pipe will be rerouted from beneath Harden Blvd for better accessibility and safety.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Maintenance Access:<\/strong>\u00a0New infrastructure will improve inspection, maintenance, and emergency response efficiency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Public Notification &amp; Citizen Engagement<\/strong><br>The City of Lakeland is committed to transparent communication.
