That\u2019s right \u2014 former Sheriff Marcos Lopez, the man who once proudly slapped the word \u201cCharlatan\u201don every suspect like it was a BOGO sticker at Publix, now finds himself literally the face of a burger special.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lopez, now facing two felony racketeering charges, has been suspended from his sheriffly duties \u2014 presumably to give him more time to taste-test the \u201cCharlatan Burger\u201d named in his, uh, honor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

General Manager Stephanie Chmielewski made it clear: she never had a taste for him\u2026 but the public sure had a taste for that burger. They sold out of buns, people. BUNS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stephanie even made a full-on WANTED poster \u2014 like we\u2019re in a spaghetti western starring a corrupt sheriff and a public with a wicked sense of humor. It had his mugshot, the word \u201cCharlatan,\u201d and probably should\u2019ve come with a coupon for free onion rings with every betrayal of public trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And let\u2019s not forget Douglas Cox, former law enforcement officer, beer enthusiast, and regretful voter. He said, \u201cI thought Lopez was the right man for the job at the time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You and about 70% of Florida\u2019s voting population, Doug \u2014 it happens. We all make mistakes. Some people buy timeshares, others elect sheriffs who turn out to be the final boss in a Florida Man video game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, the new interim sheriff? Out of office\u2026 for a week. Because hey, when your predecessor gets arrested and the department\u2019s bio pages start throwing out 404 errors faster than you can say \u201cinternal affairs,\u201d you definitely need a vacation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
