Months after an iconic brand was recalled for the same reason, this quantity may contain an ingredient millions of Americans need to avoid.<\/p>\n\n\n

For people living with food allergies, label accuracy is essential, as a mislabeled product or an undeclared ingredient has the potential to trigger serious reactions. Unfortunately, an undeclared allergen is reportedly what has prompted the current recall of a budget-friendly snack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Wednesday, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced<\/strong><\/a> the recall of 2,275 packages of J. Higgs Potato Chip Mix, each variety package holding 18 one-ounce, single-unit packets. Online product listings suggest that the flavors may include Classic, Ripple, Barbecue, Sour Cream and Onion, and Cheddar and Sour Cream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agency lists \u201cundeclared milk\u201d as the reason for the recall. A late 2024\u00a0Lays potato chip recall<\/strong>\u00a0occurred for this same reason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the\u00a0Cleveland Clinic<\/strong><\/a>, more than 6 million Americans have a milk allergy. Unlike\u00a0lactose intolerance, which can cause digestive issues, a milk allergy can lead to such symptoms as rashes, hives, anaphylaxis, and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The recalled chips were distributed to four states: Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, and Maryland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Though no stores were mentioned in the FDA report, it appears that J. Higgs products are sold at Save A Lot, a discount supermarket chain, via Shopify-powered online grocers, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
