A new hospital safety report released Thursday shows 73 hospitals in Florida earned \u201cA\u201d grades based on their ability to protect their patients from often preventable harm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Leapfrog Group\u2019s\u00a0Fall 2025 Hospital Safety Grades<\/a>\u00a0are a biannual ranking that assigns a \u201cA,\u201d \u201cB,\u201d \u201cC,\u201d \u201cD\u201d or \u201cF\u201d to all general hospitals in the United States based on their ability to protect patients from medical errors, accidents, injuries, and infections. The Leapfrog Group, a watchdog founded 25 years ago, says it aims to improve American health care through transparency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report also named \u201cStraight A\u201d hospitals \u2014 those earning an A grade for more than two years in a row.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Medical errors, accidents, injuries, and infections are largely preventable problems that harm one in four hospital inpatients and cause as many as 250,000 deaths each year, according to The Leapfrog Group. The Safety Grade reports have been a cornerstone of that effort, the group says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, 57 hospitals in Florida earned B grades, 40 received C grades, and seven received D grades. The report also showed that one Florida hospital received a failing F grade.<\/p>\n\n\n
