Where other coaches teach only the sport, Ward teaches his heritage and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"140\" height=\"210\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/x936yapv53vexiaa.jpg?resize=140%2C210&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5906\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A member of the Cherokee Nation, Ward hails from the Syracuse, N.Y. area, but has been at Florida Southern since 2010. He was named the head coach of the Moccasins in 2011 after spending one season as an assistant coach for Florida Southern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since Ward took the helm of the program, the Moccasins have posted an overall record of 75-64, and have been ranked in the USILA Top 20 a total of seven times. During his time at Florida Southern, the program has produced four all-Americans and 48 all-conference selections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Florida Southern College men&#8217;s lacrosse team will open up the 2020 campaign as the 18th ranked team in the country, according to the NIKE\/US Lacrosse poll released on Monday, December 23. The Mocs open the regular season on February 7, hosting Molloy (N.Y.)
