Florida Southern College is excited to join with MIDFLORIDA\nCredit Union for the official unveiling of the College\u2019s new, high-tech video\nscoreboards in Streamline Sale Arena at the George W. Jenkins Field House. A\nspecial halftime presentation will be held on Wed., Jan. 22, as FSC\u2019s men\u2019s\nbasketball team takes on the University of Tampa. The game will start at 7:30\np.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new video scoreboards, which were installed in November,\nreplaced the existing boards located on the north and south walls of the\nfacility. Funding for the new video boards has been provided by MIDFLORIDA\nCredit Union, which has served as the primary scoreboard sponsor in Jenkins\nField House since 2003.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steve Moseley, President of MIDFLORIDA Credit\nUnion, said, \u201cMIDFLORIDA is proud to support our local communities, including\ngreat institutions like Florida Southern College. Many of our associates have\nattended Florida Southern for their graduate and post-graduate degrees, which\nhas helped strengthen our workforce. Our support for this hometown college has\nbeen longstanding and we are pleased to help add this exciting scoreboard to\nthe Mocs\u2019 athletics program.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new video boards include two full-color LED displays\nwith the capability to run in-arena ads and replays, and to connect to live\nstats and live video feeds. The boards were built by Nevco, one of the nation\u2019s\nleading scoreboard manufacturers with more than 100,000 installations\nworldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is a fantastic addition for Florida Southern College\nand for our program,\u201d said Mike Donnelly, men\u2019s basketball head coach. \u201cThe new\nvideo boards certainly bring a \u2018wow\u2019 factor to games and help create an\nexciting environment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The video board on the north wall measures 16.5 by 10 feet,\nall of which is to be dedicated to video. The video board on the south wall\nmeasures 12 by 8 feet, with the lower portion featuring a traditional\nscoreboard and the upper portion dedicated to video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe absolutely love the home court advantage that the video\nboards provide for us,\u201d said women\u2019s basketball head coach Betsy Harris. \u201cOur\nfans, student-athletes, and campus community have responded extremely\npositively to the new changes, and it really creates a great atmosphere.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the video boards, Florida Southern also\nreceived new shot clocks, scoreboard consoles, and a touch-screen laptop with\nNevco\u2019s Display Director software, which allows production staff\nto organize stats, headshots, graphics, animation, ads, and more in a simple\nplatform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to use at home athletic events,\nthe video boards will also provide enhanced experiences at NCAA and Sunshine\nState Conference Tournaments, as well as special campus events such as the\nCEO100 Series, FSC Athletics Hall of Fame, and the annual Mother\u2019s Day\nLuncheon. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
