The FDOT is encouraging drivers to slow down as they approach and navigate the intersection, as new traffic patterns will be in effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Construction of the Waring and Drane Field roundabout&nbsp;began in September 2024.&nbsp;It was incorporated into a traffic management plan when Publix Super Markets, Inc. announced plans to expand its nearby corporate headquarters in September 2018, according to Chuck Barmby, the city&#8217;s transportation and development review manager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The roundabout was designed to have two travel lanes that will vary from 12 feet to 14 feet across with a roughly 170-foot diameter when measured from curb to curb, according to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swflroads.com\/project\/444906-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FDOT project website.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Motorists are asked to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Slow down and approach the roundabout with caution.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Yield right-of-way to traffic already in the roundabout.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow posted signs and lane markings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Construction continues on the new, multilane roundabout at Waring and Drane Field roads in Lakeland on Nov. 21, 2025.
