First responders across Polk County now have new training tools to teach community members to save the lives of people in cardiac arrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AdventHealth Heart of Florida and the American Heart Association have donated a CPR & First Aid Anywhere Training Kit to the Davenport, Lake Wales, and Haines City Fire Departments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The American Heart Association, which provided the kit, stated that it contains everything needed to train up to 20 people simultaneously in the lifesaving skills of CPR and first aid. It features 10 Mini Anne Plus inflatable manikins, kneel mats, individual carry bags, and practice-while-watching training DVDs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a training session, participants are taught CPR and first aid skills, including hands-only CPR and adult CPR with breaths, how to use an AED, how to help adults and children who are choking, as well as first aid for bleeding and bandaging, fainting, heart attack and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re honored to partner with the American Heart Association, Davenport, Lake Wales, and Haines City Fire Departments to help bring this lifesaving education directly to the people these trusted agencies serve,\u201d said Tim Clark, president and CEO of AdventHealth\u2019s Polk Market. \u201cLearning CPR and AED skills from local first responders strengthens community safety, and their guidance helps empower residents to respond when every second counts and gives residents the ability to protect one another.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In August, AdventHealth Heart of Florida and the American Heart Association also donated a CPR & First Aid Anywhere Training Kit to Davenport High School, as part of an effort to educate students and train the next generation of lifesavers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under Florida law, schools are required to provide first aid training, including CPR, to high school students in the ninth and eleventh grades. The American Heart Association advocated for the legislation making CPR training a requirement as part of the school curriculum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
