Drew Ruggles scored twice to earn All Major Arena Soccer League defender honors following the Florida Tropics 7-1 win over the St. Louis Ambush last weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was the second time in three games that Ruggles had two\ngoals in a game. He turned the same trick Jan. 12 in a 10-3 win over the\nOrlando SeaWolves, also adding two assists in that contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The one goal allowed against St. Louis was a team record for\nfewest goals allowed in a game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the season, Ruggles has five goals and two assists to go\nalong with a team-high 13 blocked shots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tropics \u2013 with a record of 10-1 and atop the MASL\nEastern Conference \u2013 will look for two more team records this weekend. A win\nFriday in Dallas against the Sidekicks would mark the Tropics sixth straight\nwin, the longest streak in club history, and 11th on the season, eclipsing the current\nteam record of 10 set in 2017-18. Friday’s game in Dallas marks the halfway\npoint of the 24-game regular season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Florida will then play Saturday, Feb. 1 in Mesquite \u2013 before\nreturning to host the 13-time champion San Diego Sockers on Saturday, Feb. 8.\nSan Diego and Florida are two of the three teams in the MASL with just one loss\nheading into this weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
