This quilt will help tell the story of K-9 Mako and Sergeant Skillman’s service and sacrifice while serving the Lakeland community, often standing in harm’s way.

A little history on the K-9 Quilt of Honor.

It all started with Kobi, a K9 deputy who retired from the Indian River County (Florida) Sheriff’s Office during the height of the pandemic when law enforcement faced major challenges in June 2020. Carolyn felt someone needed to tell Deputy Kobi (K9) and Sgt. Bryan (handler), some people still respected and valued their service. That’s how the “K9 Quilt of Honor” was born.
