The investigation began when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children sent a cyber tip to local authorities. The tip warned that a specific Google account was being used to upload and save hundreds of images that appeared to show the sexual abuse of children. Detectives traced the account to an internet connection in the Ranches at Lake McLeod neighborhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When investigators reviewed the digital evidence, they identified 46 specific files that they say depict children between the ages of four and ten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Detectives tracked the account information to Khan and obtained a warrant to search his home on Marksman Road. When deputies arrived at the house, Khan\u2019s grandparents told them he was currently working his shift at a McDonald\u2019s in Wahneta. Deputies went to the restaurant and took him into custody there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During questioning, Khan reportedly admitted to detectives that he had an “addiction to pornography” and had downloaded thousands of files. However, he denied that any of the content involved children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Investigators searched Khan\u2019s bedroom and seized a significant amount of electronics, including 10 cell phones, a hard drive, a flash drive, and an iPod. Police say they also found MDMA, marijuana, and a grinder in his possession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Khan now faces 46 counts of possession of child pornography. He was also charged with possession of MDMA, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. The Sheriff’s Office stated that the electronic devices will undergo a full forensic analysis, which could lead to more charges if additional illegal content is found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At his first court appearance, a judge set Khan\u2019s bond at $25,000 for each of the pornography counts, plus additional amounts for the drug charges. The total bond sits at just over $1.15 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd praised the quick work of the Cyber Crimes Unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“My detectives are the very best in the business – they jump into action and conduct a thorough investigation each time they receive a cyber tip regarding children being sexually abused,” Judd said. “So far there are no indications that this suspect had any contact with children, but the fact that he was uploading such despicable images is extremely concerning, and he belongs in jail.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
