According to Nate Fleming the new Executive Director, Lkld Live needs to be less a music venue than a home for creativity as it moves into maturity and its next act in Lakeland. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fleming replaces Shane Lawlor, organization\u2019s inaugural\ndirector, who left Lkld Live to manage The Yard on Mass<\/a>, a food truck park and\nbeer hall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Music will remain a mainstay at Lkld LIVE but the downtown\nvenue has a strong following for its musical tribute shows \u2014 but the goal is to\nmake it a place where people can experience anything from immersive\ntheater like murder mysteries to improv comedy and art classes in a space that\nwill serve, at times, as a gallery, Fleming said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among Fleming\u2019s credits are the founding of Swan City Improv<\/a> and Lakeland Food Tours<\/a>. He will continue to\nrun those ventures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it started, Lkld Live got free rent at 202 N.\nMassachusetts Ave. as an in-kind donation from building owner and LkldTV\nfounder Randy Borden. Borden sold the building to Baron Realty last May. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the new ownership, Lkld Live will share the downtown\nbuilding at Massachusetts and Cedar Street \u2014 known for its curved art deco\noverhang \u2014 with The\nRec Room, an arcade bar set to open this spring<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lkld\nLive, a 501c3 organization<\/a>, is sustainable, Lkld Live Chairman Chuck\nMcDanal said, but the vast majority of its revenue comes from the door and\nthe bar, which has limited the scope of the operation. Fleming has big plans,\nbut he is also charged with finding the donor base necessary to make them\nhappen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMy biggest focus is acquiring the proper funding,\u201d Fleming\nsaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
