Crews are investigating the road depression"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"p-rc_e3f45799654910e9-26\">Currently, <strong>US 98 near the Polk\/Pasco County line<\/strong> is experiencing disruptions.<sup><\/sup> While there were major road depression issues on I-4 in Polk County late last month, the most current US 98 situation involves the following:<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img data-dominant-color=\"a7a5a4\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #a7a5a4;\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"259\" height=\"194\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 259px) 100vw, 259px\" src=\"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/download-9.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-63605 not-transparent\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The Issue:<\/strong> Crews are investigating and addressing a <strong>road depression<\/strong> (and performing critical drainage work) that has led to lane closures.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Closure:<\/strong> A full closure is scheduled for this coming weekend <strong>(Friday, March 13 at 8 p.m. through Monday, March 16 at 6 a.m.)<\/strong> on US 98 between <strong>CR 54<\/strong> (the county line) and <strong>Old Lakeland Highway<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Impact:<\/strong> In the meantime, you can expect periodic lane closures and flagging operations during the day (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) as crews prep for the major repair.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Detour:<\/strong> Thru traffic is being rerouted via CR 54 and Old Lakeland Highway, which adds about <strong>8 miles<\/strong> to the trip.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you&#8217;re heading toward Dade City or north Lakeland, it&#8217;s definitely worth checking a live map before you head out, as these &#8220;investigations&#8221; often turn into longer-term repairs if they find a void under the pavement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Currently, US 98 near the Polk\/Pasco County line is experiencing disruptions.
