Richardson<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" id=\"p-rc_6ae6984dc389bf49-18\">The ceremony, hosted by President Trump, recognized Richardson&#8217;s gallantry in the vicinity of <strong>Loch Ninh, Republic of Vietnam<\/strong>.<sup><\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The Situation:<\/strong> Richardson\u2019s unit was assigned to take a strategic hill when they were surrounded by enemy forces. The unit was at high risk of being completely overrun.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Stand:<\/strong> Despite being wounded by an enemy sniper, Richardson took a position on top of the hill.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Impact:<\/strong> For eight hours, he directed &#8220;danger close&#8221; air support while exposed to heavy fire. His leadership and coordination are credited with saving the lives of <strong>85 soldiers<\/strong> in his unit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Medal:<\/strong> Richardson only found out earlier this year that he would be receiving the upgrade to the Medal of Honor.
