According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. near the Howard Frankland Bridge area. Witnesses reported McCants was driving a Ford Fusion at high speeds and weaving through traffic before colliding with a Toyota RAV4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • The Crash:<\/strong> The Ford Fusion sustained heavy front-end damage; fortunately, the driver of the Toyota was not injured.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The Arrest:<\/strong> When troopers arrived, they found a half-full bottle of tequila in McCants’ car and noted she smelled of alcohol. As officers attempted to interview her, she became combative, walking toward active lanes of traffic and eventually striking the officers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Subduing the Suspect:<\/strong> Troopers had to use a Taser twice to detain her. She continued to resist even after being placed on a stretcher for medical evaluation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Baker Act:<\/strong> She was transported to a local hospital and placed under a Baker Act due to specific threats she made against her own life during the encounter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Legal Charges<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    After being medically cleared, McCants was booked into the Falkenburg Road Jail<\/strong> on the following charges:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Three counts of resisting an officer with violence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
