Orange County consistently holds the highest concentration of registered offenders within the state, with approximately 2,300 residents listed as of 2018-2019 data, though the total state population of registered offenders has risen by roughly 53% since 2005. The typical registered offender is identified as a white, middle-aged male, and a whopping 79 percent have committed sexual crimes against children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite the high numbers, 60 percent of all individuals on Florida’s registry do not reside in the state, as they are confined in prison, have moved to other states, or have been deported. The state maintains strict monitoring requirements, including mandatory electronic monitoring for certain offenders and residency restrictions that contribute to challenges in housing and transience for those living in Florida. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
