Mark your calendars for next Wednesday, February 26, 2020,\nas this dynamic duo will be showcasing their skills during prime time at 9:00\np.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The weekly show, which premiered in January of this year,\nfeatures four police K-9 teams and one civilian K-9 team competing in three\nrounds of competition. Sergeant Peterman and K-9 Blizzard joined then senior\ntrainer Jeff Barrett and traveled to Los Angeles to film for the show after\nbeing selected from the more than 700 K-9 teams interviewed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A twenty-year veteran of the Lakeland Police Department,\nSergeant Peterman has held positions in Patrol, Neighborhood Liaison Unit,\nSWAT, Street Crimes Unit, and the Narcotics Unit before being assigned to K-9\nin 2006. As a K-9 officer, he handled three dual certified, patrol\/narcotic\nK-9s (Tuffy, Charief, and Nox) and reached trainer status before being promoted\nto Sergeant in 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sergeant Peterman was assigned to the K-9 unit as the\nsupervisor in 2016 and partnered up with his fourth K-9, K-9 \u201cBlizzard,\u201d a dual\ncertified patrol\/explosives dog. K-9 Blizzard is a four-year-old Belgian\nMalinois\/German Shepherd mix imported from Slovakia. Blizzard also often\ndeploys with the SWAT team. He won Top Explosives Dog in the 2017 USPCA Region\n1 Field Trial, was a member of the USPCA National 2019 first place Patrol Dog\nfour-person department team, and the Top Patrol Dog in the 2020 USPCA Region 1\nField Trial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sergeant Peterman is the current United\nStates Police Canine Association – Region 1<\/a> President and a certified\nUSPCA Regional Patrol and Detection Dog Judge. He also is a FDLE<\/a> (Florida\nDepartment of Law Enforcement) certified General, Firearms, Driving, and Canine\nInstructor, as well as a state-certified Canine Evaluator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
