They hope to\nraise $25 million from the public.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Plan is to open Bonnet Springs park by end of 2020 or early\n2021<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leaders hoping to raise $25 million from public<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bonnetspringspark.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LINK:\nBonnett Springs Park<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The park is now under construction on a former CSX rail yard\noff of Kathleen road just to the west of downtown. Its 180 acres will\nfeature&nbsp;many amenities for visitors of all ages. They include a great lawn\namphitheater, a children&#8217;s museum, botanical gardens, event spaces, a massive\ntree house for children and miles of walking and bicycle paths among other\nthings.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;When this park is finished you could set this park in\nChicago or you could set this park in Detroit or even in New York and it would\nimprove those cities,&#8221; said park CEO Bill Tinsley. &#8220;That&#8217;s the kind\nof asset we are building here.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Barnett family, with ties to Publix, has donated most of\nthe money to make the park possible but leaders are hoping for lots of\ndonations from the public. There are naming rights available for&nbsp;lots of\nthe park&#8217;s features.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The park will be finished even if all the public money isn&#8217;t\nraised right away according to Tinsley. &#8220;We will build the park. We&#8217;ll\nhave to have a bridge loan if that happens to figure out the financing package.\nBut our group is so committed we are going to make this happen.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leaders hope to open Bonnet Springs Park by the end of 2020\nor the first part of 2021.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Leaders of the privately funded $100 million Bonnet Springs Park in Lakeland are kicking off a major fundraising campaign.
