If you step into the Glory Days sports bar in Lakeland, you will find a memorial built to honor the legacy of Maj. Cody Khork.<\/p>\n\n\n

Khork was killed in battle during a drone strike in Kuwait during the early stages of Operation Epic Fury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cIf you read it (the memorial), you\u2019ve spoken my name. You\u2019ve spoken my son\u2019s name. So there\u2019s, that goal accomplished, if I accomplish nothing more than that. That is a huge goal for us,\u201d said Stacey Khork, Cody\u2019s mother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maj. Khork\u2019s family and friends gathered for the unveiling of the memorial, which features pictures and messages about the fallen soldier\u2019s past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe hope this restaurant is a place where you can come, remember Cody, tell stories, remember his sacrifice and the wonderful values he represented,\u201d said Ben Eldridge, with Glory Days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the tribute, Florida Southern College has announced an endowed scholarship to honor Khork\u2019s memory. The scholarship, which is for any ROTC student at the school, has raised more than $140,000 to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
