According to the investigation, some of the specific key findings were, uninsured gunshot victims stay in the hospital for about six days which is a 25% shorter than average stay for patients with health insurance or Medicaid. The report also mentioned that medical experts note that premature discharges leave patients vulnerable to severe physical complications\u2014such as infections, nerve damage, or hemorrhages\u2014as well as unaddressed PTSD and depression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In response to the data, several hospital representatives disputed the idea that financial status dictates healthcare. Spokespersons from institutions like Broward Health and Memorial Regional emphasized that all medical treatment plans and discharge actions are decided strictly by clinical staff based on safety and medical necessity, rather than a patient’s financial or insurance profile.
