City Manager Shawn Sherrouse is pleased to appoint Mr.\u00a0Scott Bishop\u00a0as Interim General Manager of\u00a0Lakeland Electric, citing his extensive leadership experience and commitment to public service.\u00a0

\u201cMr. Bishop\u2019s\u00a0more than two decades of combined public and private sector experience, operational expertise, innovative approach and collaborative leadership have prepared him well to serve as our Interim General Manager,\u201d said Sherrouse.
Bishop, who\u00a0joined\u00a0Lakeland Electric\u00a0in 2012,\u00a0most recently served\u00a0as Assistant General Manager for Energy Delivery. During his\u00a014-year\u00a0tenure, he has helped lead some of the utility’s most significant operational and technological initiatives while overseeing the reliable delivery of electric service to the community.<\/td><\/tr>
Prior to his\u00a0role as\u00a0Assistant General Manager, Bishop served as Emerging Technology Manager, where he led efforts focused on renewable energy, battery storage, electric vehicle infrastructure, energy\u00a0efficiency\u00a0and other innovative programs designed to prepare the utility for the future.\u00a0Bishop\u2019s\u00a0leadership experience in both the public and private sectors, gives\u00a0him a\u00a0broad\u00a0perspective on utility operations,\u00a0innovation\u00a0and customer service.\u00a0

Before joining Lakeland Electric,\u00a0Bishop spent 11 years with Georgia Power,\u00a0where he held leadership positions in system operations, advanced control\u00a0systems\u00a0and utility technology. He has more than 25 years of experience in the electric utility industry and holds an associate degree in mechanical design, a\u00a0bachelor\u2019s degree in technology\u00a0management\u00a0from Clayton State University and a Master of Business Administration from Columbus State University.\u00a0

As Interim General Manager, Bishop will oversee Florida’s\u00a0third largest\u00a0public power utility,\u00a0ensuring\u00a0the continued delivery of\u00a0affordable, dependable, and sustainable\u00a0service while supporting\u00a0Lakeland Electric\u2019s\u00a0strategic priorities,\u00a0employees\u00a0and customers.\u00a0
