How many of you live outside the City of Lakeland but receive your electric service from Lakeland Electric?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lakeland Electric recently approved a 15.5% base rate increase over the next four years, and the utility is budgeted to transfer more than $35 million each year to the City of Lakeland\u2019s General Fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you live in unincorporated Polk County, you can\u2019t vote for the Lakeland City Commission, yet you\u2019re still paying electric rates set by that Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are trying to find out how many people are in this situation. If you live outside the city limits but have Lakeland Electric, please comment below with your general area (for example: Highland City, Medulla, Christina, South Lakeland, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are gathering information to better understand how many customers outside the city may be affected and whether there should be more representation or a different approach for customers who don\u2019t live within the city limits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
