There\u2019s nothing quite like seeing our community come together, and Halloween gives us another great opportunity to do just that. Costumes, candy, family fun, and our deputies make for a pretty good combination \u2014 and I\u2019m excited to invite everyone back for another year of Trick or Treat with Sheriff Judd.<\/p>\n\n\n

Our third annual event will take place on Saturday, October 24, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Sun \u2018n Fun in Lakeland. And just like last year, everything is completely free!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our goal with this event is simple: give families a safe, fun place to trick-or-treat while allowing our deputies to spend time with the people they serve. You\u2019ll see our deputies handing out candy from decorated patrol cars, and there will be plenty of opportunities to take pictures, enjoy the festivities, and make some great family memories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We made some improvements from last year based on your feedback, so this year there will be different areas to visit, instead of one long line for free candy. First, we will have not one, but two lines for trick-or-treating; and we will have a separate entrance to the \u2018fun zone\u2019 where those who aren\u2019t interested in getting candy can interact and take photos with the Ghostbusters, Star Wars characters, Transformers, and visit the food trucks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And, of course, I\u2019ll be there too. I always enjoy getting the chance to meet the families in our community, so come by, say hello, grab some candy, have some fun, and take a picture with me. Unfortunately, I have another commitment that day, so I will only be there until 4:00 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the fun won\u2019t stop with Trick or Treat with Sheriff Judd. This October, we\u2019re also excited to introduce something new: our first-ever Sheriff\u2019s Haunted Trail. For those who loved our Haunted Jail Tour, this one\u2019s for you. The old jail was torn down, so we came up with a whole new way to scare! The trail will be open on October 16, 17, 23, and 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. We\u2019re still working on the details, so I don\u2019t want to give too much away just yet. Keep an eye out for our upcoming announcements and more information as we get closer to Halloween.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So mark your calendars, bring the family, and get those costumes ready. Whether you join us for the Haunted Trail, Trick or Treat with Sheriff Judd, or both, we look forward to celebrating Halloween with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
