When\ndeputies arrived, a man, who was found to have been cut on the finger, told\ndeputies that he was involved in an argument with Adkison when Adkison suddenly\nretrieved a machete from the outside closet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PCSO Deputies reported the man said Adkison attempted to\nenter his home with the machete, and he tried to stop him. The argument then\nturned physical, according to reports, and the man&#8217;s finger was cut by the\nmachete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adkison reportedly dropped the machete and fled the scene\nbefore deputies arrived. Both Adkison and the man who was cut live in the same\nhouse, deputies said, but not as a family unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adkison was arrested for aggravated battery, then taken to\nLakeland Regional Heath Medical Center to be evaluated for his injuries.\nAccording to his arrest affidavit, while at the hospital, Adkison was committed\nunder the Baker Act for making statements to deputies that he wanted to kill\nhimself by overdosing on drugs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 28-year-old Lakeland man is facing charges of felony aggravated battery after wielding a machete during a verbal dispute, according to the Polk County Sheriff&#8217;s Office.
