Their\nassociate,&nbsp;<strong>18-year-old Erik Casas-Moreno<\/strong>, was arrested on July 6th\nby Windermere P.D. driving one of the stolen vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;<em>Here are more poster children who prove that\nslapping prolific criminals on the wrist doesn&#8217;t work &#8211; it just enables them to\ncommit more crimes unfettered. These aren&#8217;t &#8216;kids behaving badly&#8217; &#8211; they are\nthieves. They need to spend more time behind bars and in meaningful programs\nthat can hopefully change these kids, and less time out on the streets.<\/em>&#8221; &#8211;&nbsp;<strong>Grady Judd, Sheriff<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On July 2, 2019,\nmultiple car burglaries in the Fountain Park subdivision in Polk City were\nreported. A video showing one burglary is currently posted on the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/r20.rs6.net\/tn.jsp?f=001W8kZkzxIS-WBC9fzl7bPdq_ttLLCJUbYoHflV3uc7XyKGJMoU2Pi_IsTiMzePknV6ImyGvWsdSI9XmB9dKPGGY-MiXy8ep-CeAvHUMNmvZVJQ5MiQYM_XlusizZEF0XNhVg-5Wwwd_KcvUpt7DjoqWeljq_lHtx-uzjsabzvSw-53I9G5XNejuNAas3uuakOmDFOGIQhnQuLmkiXbGMSpw==&amp;c=xFJWHiG9Ab64pnjC9C1-HXumvEozynHgv2GLTBDZuTp4sJUXQzqg0A==&amp;ch=7AU0hgcLhm0bvwxAAvvcvXo6nQux4KINDjU-2FGPI3UxUJoXY-_B7w==\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PCSO Facebook page<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On July 4, 2019, a\nvehicle on Old Polk City Road in Lakeland was burglarized, and a Jeep Comanche\nwas stolen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On July 6, 2019, PCSO responded to a burglary-in-progress on Kinsman Way in Lakeland. The victim was alerted to the presence of the suspects pulling on his car door handles &#8211; he scared them off. Detectives recovered video from that scene and observed that the suspects were wearing the same clothes from the July 4th Old Polk City Road crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While deputies were\nstill at that scene, PCSO received a call in reference to a vehicle theft on\nOld Kinsman Way. The suspects had burglarized an unlocked car that had a key\ninside of it to a Chevy Malibu. They stole the Malibu and fled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On July 7th, two\nvehicle burglaries were reported on Ridgegreen Drive in Lakeland; on July 8th,\na Chevy Silverado was reported stolen from Ridgegreen Loop North.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the same time\nframe, Windermere Police arrested Erik Casas-Moreno for grand theft of a motor\nvehicle &#8211; he was in the stolen Jeep. He told detectives that he purchased the\nJeep from Barns and Manzie on July 4th. Detectives learned the pair was staying\nat a residence on Old Polk City Road. They responded to the home, and the\nsuspects attempted to flee out of the back door. They were quickly apprehended.\nThe stolen Chevy Silverado was parked in the side yard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Manzie admitted to stealing\nboth the Jeep and the Chevy truck, and that he sold the Jeep to Moreno. He also\nsaid the truck had a gun in it, and that he sold it to someone else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Manzie&#8217;s criminal\nhistory includes 27 previous and current charges: 8 felonies, 11 misdemeanors, and\n8 other charges such as VOP. For this most recent crime spree he has so far\nbeen charged with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>2 counts grand theft\nmotor vehicle<\/li><li>1 count grand theft of\na firearm<\/li><li>3 counts burglary<\/li><li>2 counts dealing in\nstolen property<\/li><li>1 count petit theft<\/li><li>1 count resisting\narrest<\/li><li>1 count VOP<\/li><li>1 out-of-county\nwarrant for juvenile justice absconder<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More charges are\npending the completion of these investigations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Barnes&#8217; criminal\nhistory includes 20 previous and current charges: 11 felonies, 5 misdemeanors,\nand 4 other charges such as VOP.
