On Sept 4, 2020 a photo was posted to Facebook, and then later taken down after it went viral of Lakeland Mayor Bill Mutz at Britt\u2019s Caf\u00e9. Yes it is inside of the city limits\u2026\u2026 \u201cThe City of Lakeland is under a mandatory mask ordinance on that date\u201d\u2026.. Where are the masks and the social distancing, Mr. Mayor?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Per EMERGENCY RESOLUTION NO. 5619<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFace Covering\u201d shall mean a uniform piece of material that securely covers a person\u2019s nose and mouth and remains affixed in place without the use of one\u2019s hands, whether store-bought or homemade, consistent with CDC guidelines.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSocial Distancing<\/a>\u201d shall mean keeping space between yourself and other people by staying at least 6 feet from other people<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mayor\u2019s only comment to the photo when someone questioned him about it was \u2026.. \u201cThere is no mask mandate outside by the City.  Did you think there was one?\u201d But Mr. Mayor Britt\u2019s cafe is in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When another Lakelander emailed the Mayor about the photo, the Mayor responded on Sept 8 with one word, \u201dOutside\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Face Coverings Required. Per EMERGENCY RESOLUTION NO. 5619<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Every person working, living, visiting, or doing business in the City of Lakeland shall wear a face covering consistent with CDC guidelines in any indoor location, other than their home or residence, when not maintaining social distancing from other persons, excluding family members or companions.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    2. Medical and surgical masks, such as \u201cN95\u201d masks or other similar medical or surgical masks are in short supply and should be reserved for health care personnel and other first responders with the greatest need for such personal protective <\/p>\n\n\n\n
