Thomas Robb<\/a>, a 79-year-old Arkansan and national director of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK), celebrated his organization\u2019s \u201cgrowing\u201d support ahead of the midterms in a new interview<\/a> published Sunday with Al Jazeera\u2019s Phil Lavelle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSupport for us is growing, there\u2019s no question about that!\u201d Robb, who ultimately succeeded David Duke as leader of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan in 1989, told Lavelle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Robb is also the leader of the Christian Revival Center<\/a> in Boone County in northern Arkansas, where the KKK leader said Black people weren\u2019t welcome. The church\u2019s website<\/a> openly urges attendees to \u201cHonor Your Birthright,\u201d specifically naming \u201cAnglo-Saxon, Germanic, Celtic, Scandinavian, and related peoples of Europe.\u201d The church\u2019s website also includes a warning against those who have \u201ccursed Israel.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe wanted to see how much, if any, influence this group or its message has ahead of the midterms,\u201d Lavelle said in a narration over his interview with Robb. \u201cThe Klan is trying to publicly rebrand around family and faith, though [Robb] tells us the robes are still used at times, and race is still at the top, determining who, in its leaders\u2019 eyes, belong in America.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the interview, Lavelle asked Robb his thoughts on non-white political figures such as New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell, first of all, they\u2019re not Americans,\u201d Robb said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lavelle pushed back, noting that El-Sayed was born in Michigan. While not born in the United States, Mamdani is a naturalized U.S. citizen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI don\u2019t care where he\u2019s born, he\u2019s not American,\u201d Robb said, going on to argue that only \u201cwhite\u201d people could be considered Americans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Robb also spoke out against criticism of President Donald Trump over rising costs amid his deeply unpopular<\/a> war against Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey\u2019re not looking at the things that Trump did to really restore America. Build the wall\u2026 I mean, theoretically, I could say I don\u2019t care if gas prices are $20 a gallon!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
