ElderPoint Services announces the opening of its Caregiver Resource Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The center works with senior caregivers by conducting a professional assessment and providing a guide to services, facilities, or other organizations that could best meet each client\u2019s needs. ElderPoint does not recommend specific providers for those services, though information about various providers can be found in the center\u2019s family library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Caregiver Resource Center, as well as the administrative office of this nonprofit organization —  previously known as ElderPoint Ministries of Greater Lakeland \u2013 is located at 332 W. Highland Dr. in Lakeland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBecoming a caregiver for an aging parent, spouse, or other relative can be overwhelming,\u201d said President Danielle Drummond. \u201cWhat may start as simple help with appointments can change dramatically over time as new issues arise. We\u2019re here as a resource for all of those needs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To address these challenging situations, caregivers can access services and complete a phone assessment by calling (863) 682-7249.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ElderPoint Services is also proud to partner with the social work department of Warner University to provide hands-on, practical internships to students. Social work interns are trained to assist in completing assessments for families to ensure the organization\u2019s capacity to respond to needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the new Caregiver Resource Center, ElderPoint Services provides medical transportation at no charge to qualified seniors. Individuals must register with ElderPoint, then may book rides to physician appointments, physical therapy, dialysis, or other health-related appointments. This service is made possible through a collaboration with Polk County Health Plan to ensure access for seniors throughout Polk County. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
