 Registration<\/a> is officially open for Lakeland Regional Health Hollis Cancer Center\u2019s Seventh Annual Promise Run. This year\u2019s event will be virtual, taking place any time between Thursday, April 22, and Sunday, April 25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants will receive a technical running shirt, commemorative medal, bib, and honor bib. For full information about the Promise Run, visit PromiseRun.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are so inspired by the way the community comes together for the Promise Run, and this year will be no different,\u201d said Timothy J. Boynton, Lakeland Regional Health Vice President of Development and Chief Public Relations and Communications Officer. \u201cThe runners, walkers, cancer survivors, families and donors will show their support – but in a safe and socially distanced way.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Using a virtual format for racing events has been a common theme for many races this past year because of the pandemic, and many people find that they are very convenient. Before running, participants can download the RaceJoy app from Google Play or the App Store, which uses GPS tracking to monitor progress and send progress alerts. Runners and walkers can even choose to have their pace tracked in an audio format, receive family and friend support through encouraging cheers along the way, and challenge and compete with each other through the app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The usual 5k and 10k courses that begin and end at Lake Mirror Promenade will be displayed in the app and runners can choose to run those courses or run anywhere that equals those distances. Runners and walkers will have unique opportunities to challenge and compete with each other through the app as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
