Fast forward to election season 2026, and early voting is underway in Florida (and several other states). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.polkelections.gov\/DocumentCenter\/View\/839\/Compilation-Sample-Ballot-General-Election-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amendment 3<\/a> is on the ballot, one of several similar efforts in various parts of the U.S. to bring rising real estate property taxes under control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gov. <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RonDeSantis\/status\/2113062648233476531?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ron DeSantis<\/a> (R) is hardly the first politician or personality to express the notion that if you are paying property taxes, you are effectively renting your land from the government because if you don\u2019t pay the tax you will lose your property. Recent <a href=\"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/2026\/09\/22\/florida-amendment-3-poll-support-drops-below-60-limit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">public polling<\/a> tends to show that Amendment 3 is favored by over half of voters, but by less than the 60 percent needed to pass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Sassafrass_84\/status\/2110573485562929616?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sassafrass84<\/a> on X advised county officials: \u201cYou can learn to budget\u201d and pivoted to fellow citizens: \u201cAttention Floridians\u2026vote YES on amendment 3\u2026\u201d Someone responded to that X-post with the &#8220;<em>No on 3&#8243;<\/em> video. If so, this writer and two different AIs couldn\u2019t find it. So, I reached out to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.manufacturedhomepronews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/YesOnAmendment3OutreachToFloridaRealtorsBackesOftheBill.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pam Wiles<\/a>,<\/strong> Chief Marketing &amp; Communications Officer for that trade group plus other documented outreaches to Florida Realtors. Four days later, there has been no apparent response.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking of polls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cThe polls are just being used as another tool of voter suppression. The polls are an attempt to not reflect public opinion, but to shape it. Yours. They want to depress the heck out of you.\u201d<\/em> &nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.brainyquote.com\/quotes\/rush_limbaugh_454842\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BrainyQuote<\/a>. &#8211; Rush Limbaugh, American radio host, political commentator, and media personality (1951\u20132021). For some years, yours truly frankly didn\u2019t get Rush Limbaugh\u2019s sense of humor or his use of sarcasm. When I flipped through the AM radio dial while driving and listened for a few minutes, I would end up moving on to another station. As a longtime political independent, for some time I could honestly say, <em>Rush who?<\/em> Living in the suburbs of Chicago, I heard progressive talk radio and conservative talk radio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019m still a political independent, a transplant to Florida from Illinois some 14 years ago, where the cost of moving to the Sunshine State was rapidly recovered by the savings in income and other taxes. I don\u2019t work for Florida Realtors nor any candidate. I\u2019ve been on both sides of the rent\/own picture. That transparently frames my thoughts and research into Amendment 3.
