{"id":938,"date":"2019-07-20T03:01:11","date_gmt":"2019-07-20T03:01:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/?p=938"},"modified":"2019-07-20T03:01:22","modified_gmt":"2019-07-20T03:01:22","slug":"a-man-jumped-to-his-death-from-lakeland-medical-center-parking-garage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/2019\/07\/20\/a-man-jumped-to-his-death-from-lakeland-medical-center-parking-garage\/","title":{"rendered":"A man jumped to his death from Lakeland Medical Center parking garage"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"265\" height=\"190\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1110px) 100vw, 1110px\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/lakelandgazette.info\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Lakeland-Medical-Center-parking-garage.jpg?resize=265%2C190&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-939\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lakeland police say a man jumped to his death from the sixth\nfloor of a hospital parking garage Thursday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">LPD responded to reports of a man acting irrationally atop\nthe parking garage at Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police arrived and tried to talk the man down from the roof,\nbut he would not comply, so they called for backup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More officers arrived and tried to negotiate with the man,\nbut their efforts were unsuccessful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAfter approximately 20 minutes of attempting to communicate\nwith the man, he jumped from the north side of the garage and was fatally\ninjured,\u201d police said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His name was not released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The incident did not affect operations at the hospital,\npolice said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lakeland police say a man jumped to his death from the sixth floor of a hospital parking garage Thursday night.
