Florida Southern Women's Swimming in 2nd Place After Day One of Panther Invite -

The Florida Southern College women’s swimming team completed Day One of the Panther Invite on Friday evening in second place with 81 team points. Rollins College rests atop the three-team field with 141 team points, while host Florida Tech is in third place, with 76 team points. The three-day event continues throughout the weekend.

Preliminary heats began at 10:00 a.m., with the finals starting at 6:00 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED

In the opening 200 freestyle relay, the Mocs “A” relay of freshmen Tianna Kosek, Danielle Williams, senior Mallary Meyer, and junior Kimmy Chang started the finals strong, claiming second place with a time of 1:36.45, earning 16 team points. The “B” Relay team of freshman Emily Drabick, sophomore Grace Sill, junior Lanier Whitton, and freshman Morgan Misenar earned eight points with a sixth place finish in 1:39.85.
Misenar returned in the next women’s event, the 500 freestyle, and scored two points with an eighth place finish in 5:11.70.
Up next, senior Malin Wallen claimed Southern’s sole win on the day, swimming the 200-individual medley in a season-best 2:06.22. Classmate Kyra Fraser placed fourth in 2:10.75, with freshman Annalise Eisold taking seventh in 2:12.95.
The Mocs scored 16 team points in the 50-free, as Kosek took third (24.35), Williams fourth (24.42), and Meyer seventh (24.59).
Event nine, the 400-medley relay, saw FSC’s “A” team of Whitton, Drabick, Chang, and Misenar earning 12 points with a fourth place finish in 3:59.74, while the “B” relay of Fraser, Eisold, Meyer, and Williams placed sixth in 4:04.25.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

In the individual events, Wallen led all Mocs by earning ten points, as Kosek tallied seven. Fraser and Williams each earned six.
Eisold and Meyer earned three points apiece for Southern, as Misenar garnered the final two points.
