A man was injured Friday after he was hit by a train while riding a bicycle in Winter Haven, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
The bicyclist is a 37-year-old male from Winter Haven.
According to the sheriff’s office, the crash occurred around 2:20 p.m. in the area of Eloise Loop Road and Macon Road.
He suffered trauma to the left side of his body (leg and arm) and was transported by air to a local hospital.
He is in critical but stable condition.
The railroad crossing equipment was functioning properly at the time of the crash.
