UPDATE: ASHER GASPARD, THE TWO-MONTH-OLD CHILD, EXPIRED TODAY FROM INJURIES SUSTAINED DURING THE AUGUST 5TH FATAL CRASH; FHP TROOPERS CONTINUE TO INVESTIGATE THE INCIDENT. CHARGES REMAIN PENDING.
On August 5, 2019, at 2:30 pm, traffic along southbound I-75 north of I-4 was slowing or stopped. A 2004 dump truck, was traveling southbound on I-75 and collided with vehicles 2 and 3, then overturned onto vehicle 4. The dump truck continued forward and collided with vehicles 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. Driver 4 from Inverness, Fl suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. Asher Gaspard, two months old, suffered critical injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The crash closed the southbound lanes of i-75 until 8:30 pm.
