A Lakeland Police officer investigating an unrelated call on September 17 was flagged down by a citizen who reported two people actively engaging in sexual activity behind a dumpster at a shopping plaza located at 3539 Hwy 98 N in Lakeland.
According to the arrest affidavit, the officer went behind the dumpster and allegedly found Alyssa Kailee Shay lying on a mattress with her pants below her knees and Timothy Shquwan Leverett on top of her. The affidavit states Leverett’s pants were also below his knees and both were exposed.
The officer activated his emergency lights, bringing the parking-lot romance to a fairly abrupt conclusion. Both reportedly got off the mattress and began putting their clothes back on.
Shay allegedly told the officer they were behind the dumpster because she is currently homeless and had nowhere else to go to engage in sexual activity.
But the story didn’t end there.
While the officer was going through Shay’s belongings and informing her she was being trespassed from the property, the officer reportedly noticed her pick up a wallet containing what appeared to be a law-enforcement badge and law-enforcement identification. Shay allegedly said the items belonged to her cousin, who had given them to her. The appropriate law-enforcement agency was then notified about the badge and identification.
Shay was arrested and charged with exposure of sexual organs/indecent exposure, a first-degree misdemeanor, and transported to the Polk County Jail.
The affidavit identifies Timothy Shquwan Leverett as the male involved in the incident, although this particular report documents the charge and arrest of Shay.
Leverett was not arrested, and there is no mugshot.
Apparently, the area behind the shopping plaza dumpster was not considered a private suite.
