Lakeland Electric, Tampa Electric Company (TECO), and Polk City held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of an interconnection between the two power companies. This new connection creates a redundant source of power for Polk City residents and businesses.
Prior to this, Polk City was served by a single power distribution line, if the line was damaged, all of Polk City would be without power until it could be repaired. Now, Lakeland Electric will have options to restore power immediately, while simultaneously repairing the distribution line.
The ceremony took place on Wednesday, August 7 in Polk City.
