Playing its first game of the season, Polk State soccer lost 4-2 to Gordon State College today in Barnesville, Ga.
After the Highlanders ended the first half up 2-0, the Eagles cut the lead in half when Samantha Gutierrez scored in the 60th minute.
A pair of Gordon State goals, however, increased the lead to 4-1.
Malia Murphy made it 4-2 in the 88th minute, scoring on an assist from Gutierrez.
For the match, the Eagles had four shots while the Highlanders took eight.
Polk State had four goalkeeper saves and Gordon State made two.
The Eagles hit the road Wednesday for a 7 p.m. match at Daytona State College.
