For the first time this season, junior Mason Jones has been named the Sunshine State Conference Runner of the Week today by the conference office. This is the fifth time that Jones has received this award in his career, having previously earning the award four times last year.
Last Saturday, Jones led the Mocs to a fifth place finish at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn., where he placed 11th individually in a field of 309 runners. His 8K time of 25:53.3 shaved 20 seconds off his time from the UF Mountain Dew Invite two weeks ago.
The 25:53.3 time marks Jones’ third fastest 8K time in his career, with his fastest being 24:36.0 at the Queen City Invite last September.
The Mocs will race again on Friday, Oct. 11 at the Royals Cross Country Challenge in Charlotte, N.C.
