LAKELAND PD IS REPORTING TRAFFIC FATALITY: Earl Kendall, 53, of Lakeland, died around 3:15 a.m. Monday after he was hit by a car while walking in the outside westbound lane of Memorial Boulevard near Interlachen Parkway, police reported today.
The driver of a westbound Chrysler 300 swerved to try to avoid hitting him, but Kendall, wearing dark clothes, darted into the path of the car as he tried to avoid it, police said.
Emergency personnel tried to save Kendall’s life, but he was declared dead at the scene, according to police.
Memorial Boulevard was closed for about 3 1/2 hours after the accident.
