Christian Schneider, a senior reporter for the higher-education news and commentary website The College Fix, will speak on the topic of campus free speech at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, as part of the Politics, Law & Economics Lecture Series presented by the Center for Free Enterprise at Florida Southern College. The program will be in Room 112 of FSC’s Becker Business Building and is free and open to all students, faculty, and the public.
Schneider has written political columns for USA Today, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and National Review Online, and his op-eds have been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, the New York Post, City Journal, The Weekly Standard and the National Review. His 2018 novel, “1916: The Blog,” satirized media, politics, and technology by exploring an alternate history in which blogs and Twitter feeds existed a century earlier.
In his work for The College Fix, a publication of the nonprofit Student Free Press Association, Schneider focuses on investigative, enterprise, and analysis reporting. The goal of The College Fix is to help college students and recent graduates build their journalistic skills by gaining paid experience under the guidance of accomplished editors.
Based in Madison, Wis., Schneider earned his master’s degree in political science from Marquette University.
The final talk in the Fall 2019 Lecture Series, “Is Bitcoin a Bubble?” by Dr. William Luther of Florida Atlantic University, will be presented on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
