The Southeastern University men’s basketball team continues to trend upward, not only in The Sun Conference, but also on the national level. The Fire came in at No. 20 in the latest NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, cracking the national rankings for the first time this season.
SEU earned its way into the poll after opening up 2020 3-0 in TSC play, including an impressive 83-74 win over then No. 22 Keiser to take sole possession of first-place in the conference standings.
Freshman forward Riley Minix has risen to the occasion of receiving the first four starting nods of his collegiate career over Southeastern’s last four contests. In those starts, Minix has averaged 22.75 points and 9.25 rebounds.
Keiser jumped up eight spots to No. 14 in the poll. Other fellow TSC member Ave Maria fell from No. 11 to the receiving votes section of the national rankings.
The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, Association of Independent Institutions and Unaffiliated Groups.
The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second place and so on through the list.
