True solidarity in afternoon turns to riot later in Lakeland

The 1 pm march and protest at Munn Park was a true solidarity in terms

but later turned ugly when a large number of protesters blocked the intersection at Memorial Boulevard and Florida Avenue. Lakeland Police eventually deployed smoke bombs and tear gas to break up the crowd. However, tensions at the scene carried well into the evening.

Polk sheriff setup a curfew from 10pm to 5am no loss of life but tear gas was used at the Memorial Boulevard and Florida Avenue intersection by the Lakeland Police department.
