Polk County Shooting Incident SR-400

On Saturday, August 29, 2020, at approximately 1:15 PM, FHP Troopers responded a highway shooting incident that occurred along Interstate 4 near the 36 milepost westbound.  The male victim reported the incident once he arrived at his Polk City home later the same day.  The victim advised that as he was traveling on the interstate he observed a newer model, red Ford Mustang driving recklessly, speeding and passing other vehicles using the emergency shoulders.  As the Mustang pulled alongside the victim’s vehicle, a 2013 Honda CR-Z, the victim heard a thump along the driver’s side of his vehicle.  The Mustang then continued westbound on the interstate as the victim reported a possible partial Florida tag number of “LEI” or “LE1” before continuing to his residence, believing at first something had been thrown at his vehicle.  The victim was unable to provide a suspect description to Troopers who later recovered one pistol round from the vehicle.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the FHP by calling 813-558-1800 or Crime Stoppers.
