A Central Florida native will not go unnoticed returning to his home area in bringing the U.S. Air Force’s F-22 Raptor Demonstration team to Lakeland.
Maj. Joshua “Cabo” Gunderson, a graduate of Bloomingdale High School in Valrico, will lead the 19-member F-22 Raptor team at the expo this week. Gunderson dreamed of being in the seat of a fighter jet after watching them perform at Sun ‘n Fun.
“I am extremely excited about returning to my home state of Florida and flying at Sun ‘n Fun,” he said in a press statement. “I attended many Sun ‘n Fun events as a kid and loved seeing the military jets, so it’s an honor to pay that forward to future aviators.
The F-22 Raptors are known for having a lethal combination of stealth, maneuverability, weaponry and surveillance capabilities that are not matched by any of the U.S. Air Force’s other fighter jets.
