On Tuesday, Lakeland held runoff elections to determine open seats on the city commission. The runoff was held as a result of candidates failing to secure the majority of the vote that would have been required to cinch the early April election when competing against a larger field of candidates.

In Lakeland, small-business owner Musick beat educator Shandale Terrell with 50.69% of the vote compared with Terrell’s 49.31%. Only 146 votes divided the two candidates in the race for the Southeast District “D” commission seat vacated by U.S. Rep Scott Franklin.
