An early morning structure fire occurred at 2626 N Florida Ave in Lakeland.
The Lakeland Fire Department received the 911 call at 7:28 a.m., arriving minutes later to find the single-story multi-unit apartment with heavy smoke and fire through the roof.
Occupants were able to safely self-evacuate before the arrival of emergency services and were not injured as a result of the fire. Significant damage was sustained to units 19-22, rendering the dwellings uninhabitable.
The American Red Cross is assisting with housing and support for the displaced residents. Lakeland Fire Department Fire Investigators are currently working the scene to determine the cause of the fire
