Catapult’s Maker Space is officially open. The Maker Space is located inside the recently opened entrepreneur center at 502 E. Main St. and is the first of its kind in Lakeland. This 9,500-sf space is filled with machinery for startups, hobbyists, students, and corporations to turn ideas into a reality. The space is equipped with a metal shop, woodshop, 3D print lab, sewing station, raw material storage, electronic station, and assembly space. A full list of the equipment included can be found here.
Membership starts at just $130/month. Before joining, prospective members will need to complete safety and equipment training.
“We are excited for what this Maker Space can be for the Lakeland community. It is awesome to be able to provide access to production-level machinery for a fraction of the cost. During the soft opening phase, members have used the space for everything from 3D printing a working drone to sewing headbands. People that otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford to test a concept or produce products, can now come and do that right here in downtown Lakeland.” – Brett Chamberlin, Maker Space Director
Drop-in tours of this space will be held this week during the following times:
- Wednesday, June 16th from 9:00 – 10:30 am
- Thursday, June 17th from 3:30 – 4:30p
