The Polk County Sheriff’s Office was saddened to learn of the passing of retired Bloodhound Diego on Friday morning, July 2nd. We’re told that Diego crossed over the Rainbow Bridge surrounded by loving family members, including his two former PCSO handlers, former deputies Russell and Ranze.
Diego served the people of Polk County for ten years, tracking down numerous missing and endangered adults and children during that time. Diego and D/S Russell were even presented the Jimmy Ryce K-9 Trailing Team of the Year award in 2011 by the governor.
To Diego’s former handlers, all we can say at a time like this is to cherish the memories you have of your great fuzzy friend.
