It isn’t unusual for them to hide in engines, but this one chose the right engine: that of Fire Inspector David Sutherland.
He heard tiny meows from his work truck, and the compassionate Lakeland Firefighters were able to capture this little kitten.
They named him “Scrappy”, after his quick and crafty moves. Scrappy got to take a trip with Assistant Fire Chief Hartzog to SPCA Florida and is now thriving in a caring foster home.
The firefighters at Lakeland Fire Department dedicate their lives to protecting both people and animals, and we are grateful.
