Included are photos from the 2021 Veteran’s Day Ceremony held earlier this morning at Veterans Memorial Park.It was an honor to stand alongside true giants, WWII veterans and so many others who served our great country.
Today was special also as a monument erected to honor Polk County’s African American WWII soldiers was dedicated during this morning’s ceremony.
A truly uplifting speech was given by Terry Coney, president of the Naacp Lakeland Branch where he honored the service of WWII Veterans and trailblazers, Herman Jenkins, 102, of Lakeland, and J.J. Corbett, 99, of Bartow who were in attendance at the ceremony.
Thank you to the Polk County Veterans Council for organizing this event each year.
